It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Hi Reeses Fans!

I hope you all had a fun Thanksgiving, and are now looking forward to Christmas and the New Year.

It's really starting to look Christmassy here now, on my walk with Daddy last night, we passed by a few homes that have already started to put up their Christmas Lights.

I liked seeing all the new lights, and gave them a good sniff. "Two Paws Up" so far!!!

I am starting to get excited about the arrival of Santa Paws! I am getting excited about what toys and gifts he will be bringing me this year.

I am preparing my "wish" list, and will see if Daddy will help me mail it to Santa Paws at the North Pole.

Post Office

I have just checked Mommy's PO Box at the Post Office. Mommy called and asked Daddy and me to go check for an important package. I like going to the Post Office. I get to ride with Daddy or Mommy. I ride shotgun, and also make sure Mommy and Daddy know where to go.

I like my car rides, and love to look out of the window!

Rescue Dog

Move Over St Bernard, with your mini barrel at your neck!

I was a real Rescue Dog today!

Daddy and I were taking our walk, when I noticed a dog following us all on his own. He looked lost.

Daddy and I went over to say "Hi", and while I was keeping him still, Daddy was able to read his name tag. His name was Spuds, and he lives one block over from us.

I helped Daddy take Spuds home. Spuds family are having their house painted, and the workmen had left a door open and not noticed Spuds leaving.

Puppies (and big dogs) shouldn't leave home without someone.

I am happy Daddy and I were able to help Spuds find his way home.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and when Mommy gets home, were are all going to Granny's house in Sanford for Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to seeing Granny, Bob and Cody! I will also get to se my big brother Harry too. I am getting excited already!

Gotcha!

I got my big brother Cedric this evening!

I wouldn't let him put my favorite collar on, so he put me in his lap while he was sitting on the sofa! I got to sit in the sofa, and Mommy didn't say "DOWN!" as she didn't know.

I lay as still as I could to see how long I could stay before Mommy found out!

Hehe hehe hehe!!

Such fun!!!

Mommy has a new Car!

Hi Reese's Fans!

I want to show you all Mommys New car. It is so nice, and I took it out for an approval ride today, well Mommy drove, but I gave directions and the "Sniff of Approval"!

As you can see it is a white Cadillac CTS. It rides well, even if I have to have a booster seat (or Daddys lap) to sit on so I can see out of the window!

The inside view is courtesy of my new "Puppy Cam". I hope you like the "Puppy's Eye View"

All This Without a Medical Degree!

Hi Reese's fans!

I have been reading Daddys newspaper while he is at work. Look what I found!

I always try to help Daddy and Mommy de-stress after a day at the office. Maybe I should go with Daddy to make sure he stays stress free at work too!

Check out the story below!

Dogs Lower Anxiety Among Heart Patients

DALLAS -- It turns out dogs are more than man's best friend. They're pretty good at making the sick feel better, too, in ways that can be measured.

A small study showed that visits from therapeutic dogs lowered anxiety, stress and heart and lung pressure among heart failure patients.

"I'm not surprised at all that something that makes people feel good also makes them feel less anxious, has measurable physiological effects," said Dr. Marc Gillinov, a cardiac surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic who was not involved in the study.

"You can see it on their face, first you see a smile and then you see the worries of the world roll off their shoulders," said Kathie Cole, a nurse at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center who led the study presented Tuesday at an American Heart Association meeting.

Take Charles Denson, for example. His face brightened as a speckled Australian Shepherd named Bart cuddled next to him as he rested in his hospital bed in a cardiac care unit.

"You've got a pretty coat," the 51-year-old said, while petting Bart's soft fur.

Cole and her colleagues studied 76 heart failure patients -- average age 57 -- who got either a visit from a volunteer, a volunteer plus a dog, or no visit.

The scientists meticulously measured patients' physiological responses before, during and after the visits.

Anxiety as measured by a standard rating scale dropped 24 percent for those visited by the dog and volunteer team, but only by 10 percent for those visited by just a volunteer. The scores for the group with no visit remained the same.

Levels of epinephrine, a hormone the body makes when under stress, dropped about 17 percent in patients visited by a person and a dog, and 2 percent in those visited just by a person. But levels rose about 7 percent in the unvisited group.

Heart pressure dropped 10 percent after the visit by the volunteer and dog. It increased 3 percent for those visited by a volunteer and 5 percent for those who got no visit. Lung pressure declined 5 percent for those visited by a dog and a volunteer. It rose in the other two groups.

Gillinov said the study was especially impressive because of the hard data it provided as opposed to observations.

Cole said that she hopes the study, funded by the Pet Care Trust Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes the value of animals in society, helps show that pet therapy is a credible addition to patient care, not just a nicety.

"It makes the hospital seem less like a hospital and it lowers people's blood pressure," said Linda Marler, education coordinator for Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation and animal assisted therapy coordinator for Baylor Healthcare System. Her program has grown from its beginnings in 1985 with one dog to 84.

The dogs used in the study -- which ranged from a poodle to a golden retriever to a miniature schnauzer -- were carefully screened at UCLA and had to pass a behavior test and checkup by a veterinarian, Cole said. Patients were also asked if they liked dogs and wanted to be part of the study.

Dr. George Dennish, a cardiologist at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Calif., said that he occasionally uses dogs in therapy.

"(The patients) felt better, they felt calmer, they felt more satisfied," Dennish said.

But he said more long-term studies with more people need to be done.

For bypass patient Danny Smith, being visited by a furry friend was a highlight of his stay at Scripps Memorial.

"It was very relieving because all they want to do was give you love," said Smith, 57, of Oceanside, Calif.

After his visit to Denson at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Bart padded into 68-year-old John Coleman's room. The predictable smile emerged and Coleman began reminiscing: "Last dog I had was a Dachshund."

New Car

I have some wonderful news! Mommy got a new car today.

I haven't seen it in Sunligt yet, but I gave it a Sniff of Approval this evening.

We all then went to the Post Office so I could check out Shotgun from the new car.

It is a nice ride, and I'll put a picture up soon for you to see!

Here i am writing my blog. Daddy took this picture for me!

Night Time Walk

Hi Reese's fans!

I have just got back from my walk. It is such a nice evening, warm, with a nice cool breeze off the ocean, and an almost full Moon!

I made sure Daddy didn't get lost in the dark, and checked out ALL the new stuff out on the street. So much to do!

ComCast are busy trying to get the cable working again so I can watch Animal Planet and HBO again. I hope they get to my street soon!

After writing this, I think I will have a nap!

Did you know, yesterday Mommy let me "chill" on their bed with them for 10 minutes as my fee for being a model at Mommys Companys Photo Shoot.

I know Mommy REALLY ENJOYED having me cuddle with her, and will ask me to do that again soon!!!

Making a Deposit

Hi There,

Friday Daddy and I had to make a deposit at the bank. That means a Car Ride to Boca!

I rode Shot Gun as usual to make sure no-one tried to take Daddys' deposit, and to make sure Daddy knew where to go!

I even got to press the button on the touch, well nose, screen for Daddy.

We had a fun time with the top down in the sunshine!

Veterans Day

Hi Ty's fans.

It is Veterans Day here. Mommy's Company does not believe in honoring our Veterans, so she has had to go to work.

Daddy and I put our flag out on the house this morning. It is blowing in the wind, and looks really nice.

I hope Mommy gets home soon and sees the flag before we take it down at dusk.

Time to patrol the Realm, so will sign off for now

Ty

Tired, so tired

Hi 'Reeses fans,

Well it has been a busy week cleaning up after Hurricane Wilma. We have power back now, so it is much easier. Just waiting on cable to be restored, and things will really start looking and feeling normal again.

Yesterday I helped Daddy hook up old fsahioned Rabbit Ear antennas to two of the TV's and an antenna to the stereo. I can now listen to my music on the big speakers again, and I like that.

Today we have all been cleaning house and doing laundry. I have helped out where I can, even helped Daddy clean out the Well in the Tranquility Corner.

Here I am taking a quick nap to recharge my batteries to help out some more.

Mommy gave me my bath today, so I am EXTRA silky and cute now.

I have another nap after my grooming as that always relaxes me, and makes me sleepy!

Have a fun weekend!

Love

Tyreese
